Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion coming this summer with 100+ new features
Just a few hours ago Apple has announced Mac OS X 10.8, dubbed "Mountain Lion," the next major release of its Mac operating system, set to launch on the Mac App Store this summer. Apple has boasted that Mountain Lion packs over 100 new features, including many brought from the iPad and iOS mobile operating system.
What's new
New features introduced with Mountain Lion include Messages, which replaces iChat, as well as Notes, Reminders and Game Center for the Mac, Notification Center, Share Sheets, Twitter integration, and AirPlay Mirroring. Mountain Lion will also be the first OS X release with iCloud. Apple also adds Gatekeeper, which helps keep users safe from malicious software by giving control over what applications are installed on a Mac.
Game Center for Mountain Lion to offer cross-platform play between Mac, iOS
This time Apple decided to add its Game Center to OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion that is expected to be unveiled this summer. Game Center for Mac will even replicate the user interface of the existing Game Center offerings for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. So, now users will be able to play online competitively and cooperatively against gamers who have the same title for iOS.
- By logging in with an Apple ID, users can add friends and keep track of their played games in Game Center.
- Multiplayer games can be initiated with someone added to a friends list, or even with new players randomly matched up.
- Game Center in Mountain Lion also features leaderboards, so gamers can compare their high scores to friends and other top players around the world.

App developers forced to submit Retina Display screenshots
Yesterday Apple notified members of the company’s iOS Developer Program that they will be required to provide high-resolution, Retina Display compatible screenshots. The screenshots are required when initially submitting or updating an app through iTunes Connect.
The note sent out to third-party software developers says that any future updates will not be approved by Apple unless 960x640 pixel screenshot is included, a change from the company's earlier policy which supported Retina Display screenshots but did not require them.

Sony Is Making Available Its Music Unlimited Service On iOS Devices
iTunes had for a long time been the only marketplace for iOS-device owners as third-party storefronts was prohibited by Apple’s rules. Giving way to government regulators, Apple last year changed its policy related to third-party stores and allowed subscriptions. This opened the way for music apps from Shazam and Spotify that have recently appeared on the iOS platfrorm. Currently another major music service is going to compete with iTunes.

Kodak lawsuit accuses Apple of violating four patents
On Tuesday Kodak has filed lawsuits against Apple and HTC claiming infringement of patent violations regarding the sharing of digital pictures between various electronic devices. The claim accuses Apple of violating four digital photography patents Kodak said it obtained after "concluding it would be desirable for people to easily share pictures" from digital cameras without having to first upload them to a central PC. Apple and HTC are likely to cooperate with each other over the Kodak suit, although the companies are suing each other.
Essentially, any Apple product with a camera is affected by the proposed suit, but specifically cited examples include the iPad 2, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and the iPod touch (4th generation). It is unclear whether software like Apple's Photo Stream, which allows digital images taken on one iDevice to be pushed to other devices through the company's iCloud, or other third-party apps that allow for image transfer over Bluetooth or WiFi are being targeted in the suit.
