Mac OS X Lion Round Up

lion

Mac OS X is almost 10 years, but it still continues to evolve and as Phillip Schiller claims "not because of hardware, but because of software."  During yesterdays keynote Apple unveiled only ten of 250 new features in Mac OS X Lion. Some of the new features include Windows Migration Assistant, a new version of FileVault, built-in FaceTime and more.

Lion will be available only through App Store as a 4 GB download for $29.99. So you pay ones and may install the new software on all your machines. Little bit strange but App did announce an exact date of MacOS X Lion release.

samsungtab101

According to The Wall St. Journal report, which in turn refers to Asian CLSA’s research note, Apple is working on an LTE-iPad for the holiday shopping season.

“While most vendors appear fixated on matching the specs and features of iPad2, our checks suggest Apple will release iPad3 in time for the holiday season, sporting a better display and LTE capabilities.”

AT&T’s LTE network is going to roll out later this year, while users of Verizon can already enjoy its amazing download speeds around the country.

On 2nd of June thinner and lighter Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was announced. The company announced it will support fast Verizon’s network in the coming weeks.

The Wall St. Journal also reported iPhone won’t get LTE support this year.

App Store Reaches 400,000 iOS Apps

app store

AppAdvice reports that the App Store reaches 400,000 iOS applications.  According to data provided by the App Store tracking system App Shopper, there were 401,446 iOS applications at the moment of creating this article. Noteworthy to say that for three years (The App Store officially launched on July 10, 2008, a day before the release of the iPhone 3G running iPhone OS 2.0.1.) 507,293 applications were approved by Apple. We believe that the milestone of 400,000 applications may be a part of Steve Jobs’  keynote speech at WWDC. AppShopper also reports that 97,946 iPad applications are currently available in the App Store.

iCloud replaces iTunes for iOS device syncing

iTunes10

John Gruber, founder of Daring Fireball web site, claims that he heard iCloud is something more than a new music service, it’s sooner will be a full replacement for iTunes.

Don’t think of iCloud as the new MobileMe; think of iCloud as the new iTunes.

Instead of simply revamped MobileMe with a new name, new UI, new functionalities and call it iCloud, Gruber pictures a scenario where iCloud becomes the new standard to sync all kinds of media and information to an iOS device:

German vandals put Windows logo on upcoming Apple Store

Check out this video of German guys defacing the upcoming Hamburg Apple Store with a giant Windows logo.

This is funny that they have installed the logo incorrectly. The green is supposed to be at the top right and the blue is at the bottom left.

iCloud To Be Deeply Integrated With Apple’s Time Capsule

iCloud

Cult of Mac source claims that iCloud will be deeply integrated with Time Capsule, confirming rumors that suggested a refreshed Time Capsule would come with embedded A4 or A5 CPUs. Apparently iCloud will become “a personal cloud server”.  There obviously will be a “Home Folder” where files, which are saved on a Mac connected to the Time Capsule, will be instantly backed up and then available to any remote Mac or iOS device. The Time Capsule will be able to archive and served up any files to any connected device. Such functions will allow you to upload content to Time Capsule and make such content available for all devices on your network. If you work not on your network, all changes will be automatically made when you connect to your network.
