ipad_2_disassembled

iFixit, as usual, prefers not to waste time and has already teardown newly released iPad 2 16 GB Wi-Fi model. The iPad 2 wasn’t easy to open because of tons of glue (not screws) used to seal it. The iPad 2 is very densely packed and has less empty space inside the body comparing with the original iPad. Here are the initials found inside:

Apple's iOS 4.3 contains evidence that iPhone 5 will sport A5 chip

a5

Yesterday Apple released iOS 4.3 and, of course, developers and hackers already started digging in it and found out that the latest iOS 4.3 SDK has evidence that the upcoming iPhone 5 will use Apple's new A5 Dual Core processor that was introduced as part of the iPad 2. Within the code of iOS 4.3, in a kernel file, developers found referenced to the A5 processor for a device with codename N94AP. The N94 is believed to be the codename for the unreleased iPhone 5. iOS developer Filippo Bigarella posted to Twitter the below screenshot of his findings, along with the declaration, "Here’s the proof, iPhone 5 will run on the S5L8940 (A5 dual core processor) too!"

iOS 4.3 Multi-Touch Gestures For iPhone

The iOS 4.3 first beta revealed Multi-touch gestures for iPad but they also fit for the iPhone and iPod touch. Although Apple already announced that Multi-Touch won’t actually be available to the public with the iOS 4.3 release, some rumors claim that the company may be willing to  implement the multitasking gestures both on the iPad and iPhone. Somebody believes that they could even replace a Home button on the next-gen iPhone and iPad. But such four and five-finger gestures on the iPhone’s screen look a little bit troublesome, as your hand easily covers the entire screen. Watch the video proof above!

iPhone Dev-Team releases RedSn0w 0.9.6b5 for unlockers

redsn0w-096b5

The iPhone Dev-Team has released RedSn0w 0.9.6b5 for unlockers stuck at the 05.14 or 05.15 basebands.

The new redsn0w 0.9.6beta5 is out.  It gives both Windows and OSX users the ability to flash the iPad 06.15 baseband on iPhone3G or iPhone3GS.  It fetches the baseband files directly from Apple for now (the only IPSW you ever point it at is the stock IPSW for the FW on your iPhone right now).  There may be a long delay while it’s doing this (their servers are currently getting pounded).

You can download the new version of RedSn0w here:

Windows 7 and Vista users, please run redsn0w as Administrator in "XP Compatiblity Mode".

We will soon post step-by-step tutorials.

UPDATE: tutorial for iPhone 3G (Windows), tutorial for iPhone 3GS (Windows)

UPDATE: Please, consider reading our Jailbreak & Unlock FAQ, especially if you have questions or troubles.

Apple answered Motorola with a counter suit

lawsuit

As you remember, recently Motorola filed a lawsuit against Apple, accusing some of the company's products in violating of patents, which are related to a range of wireless technologies, including antenna design, GPRS, 3G, 802.11 wireless. And as it was expected, Apple has now responded on that by accusing Motorola in infringing 6 patents related to multi-touch features that were first implemented in iPhone.

Jailbreak and Unlock for iOS 4.1 is possible

According to the latest tweets from different hackers (MuscleNerd, pod2g and others) the exploit for iOS 4.1 has been already discovered:

Works on 4.1 (!) iBSS iv=c2c5416472e5a0d6f0a25a123d5a2b1c key=1fbc7dcafaec21a150a51eb0eb99367550e24a077b128831b28c065e61f894a0

I just successfully updated to 4.1 without a baseband update. PLEASE wait for 4.1.0 TinyUmbrella!!!

Crazy timing that @pod2g got latest exploit just as 4.1 went public (lots of work left...keep away from 4.1 for now!)

congrats to @pod2g for the latest exploit and also @p0sixninja who have been trying for months.

This means that the jailbreak and unlock for iPhone and iPod Touch is possible. However please be patient and wait for the utilities.

Apple files a New Patent for iMac Touch

6a0120a5580826970c0133f34442aa970b801Recently we’ve talked about the rumors that Apple is planning to release a new iMac with multitouch display, which will run on iOS 4 over OS X to use sensory capabilities. It seems that we’ll finally see the touchscreen computer from Apple. A new interesting patent has just been spoken about, which shows the iMac with multitouch display called "Apple iMac Touch".

Now Apple says nothing about this device, yet it is only a patent, so we do not know exactly how much time it will need to start producing it.
