Apple has released new iOS 6.1 with expanded LTE connectivity





 

After iOS 6.1 Beta 5 for developer’s release, Apple has just added iOS 6.1 for public. This update includes support for new LTE connectivity and purchasing Siri -based tickets to the cinema through Fandango, much as individual downloads of songs in iTunes Match and a new button ' reset ' to track advertising.

"This update contains improvements and bug fixes, including:

  • LTE support for more carriers (complete list of supported carriers at www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/)
  • Purchase movie, tickets through Fandango with Siri (USA only)
  • iTunes Match subscribers can now download individual songs from iCloud
  • New button to reset the Advertising Identifier."

Robust growth of Cloud-based services remained in the shadow, along with Apple's financial results



While the media responses about flatline growth in financial results of Apple have a dominating position, the massive growth of cloud-based services Apple are reportedly remains largely unnoticed.

In 2012, reports iPodNN, the number of iCloud users grew from 85 million to more than 250 million. The number of iTunes users has exceeded 500 million, with a record profit of 2.1 billion dollars for the quarter.

Wired has posted several aerial photos of the site for Apple’s data center in Prineville, Oregon. While Apple has just started the construction on the first of two buildings for the site, construction of the tactical data center has already been completed. The report notes:

iTunes 11 could be launched on Thursday



The Wall Street Journal published a profile of Eddy Сue, Apple's Senior Vice President of Internet Services and Internet Software which contains information about the release date of iTunes 11.

The newest version of iTunes, as expected, will be released in late October. However, the release of the software was delayed till late November. The Wall Street Journal believes that the programm will be released on Thursday. The reason for the delay was reportedly some technical problems.

Apple pushes back iTunes 11 launch until November



Apple on Tuesday announced that it will postpone the launch of iTunes to November 11 due to unforeseen delays and the desire to "bring to mind". In September, Apple said the new purchasing media and control center will be ready for implementation in October, but now the company delays the procedure until November, reports AllThingsD.

Apple Announces September 19th Release Date for iOS 6

Other announcement Apple made yesterday was the release of iOS 6 mobile operating system, which was first announced in June at the company's WWDC keynote event and will be available on September 19th as a free download for the 4S, 4, 3GS, new iPad, iPad 2 and 4th generation iPod Touch. The iPhone 5 will ship with iOS 6.

Apple already detailed the specific iOS 6 features that would be available to certain iOS devices back in June. Siri will be enhanced to provide movie information, sports scores, and the ability to post to Facebook and Twitter. The new Passbook app will hold tickets, passes, and payment cards for participating businesses. Safari will have a full-screen mode for better browsing and iCloud tabs to save your open tabs and offer immediate access to them on your other iOS devices and your computer.

Apple Announces Major iTunes Update Coming Next Month

During yesterday’s special media event Apple unveiled a radically redesigned version of iTunes for Mac and PC featuring a "dramatically simpler" interface. The updated iTunes will receive iCloud integration to show all your media content saved in Apple's cloud storage service and save your position in movies or TV shows automatically so that you can pick up where you left off on another device.

Apple Begins Prepping Yerba Buena Center for iPhone 5 Media Event

Apple has begun preparing the Yerba Buena Center for its iPhone 5 introduction. The entrance of the Center is wrapped with colorful banners, suggesting that new multicolored iPods will be part of the event. The new banners evoke the imagery the company used to launch new iPods in 2010.

7.85" iPad to be Called 'iPad Mini'

The well-known Japanese blog Macotakara has recently reported that Apple will indeed release a smaller iPad, which has been referred to in the media as the "iPad mini," and will in fact use that name when the product launches in October just weeks after Apple introduces its next-generation iPhone on September 12.

Aerial Photos of Recent Work at Apple's North Carolina Data Center

Later this month we told you that Apple was already undertaking a minor expansion of its massive data center in Maiden, North Carolina. The company has recently received permits for building “tactical data center.” Now we may show you aerial photos of the site obtained by Wired, demonstrating ongoing installation of solar panels at the 100-acre solar farm across the street from the data center and what appears to be the 4.8-megawatt fuel cell facility behind the data center.
