Step-By-Step Tutorial: How to install MobileTerminal on Apple iPad
MobileTerminal is a terminal emulator application for the iPad and iPhone. The version of MobileTerminal that is available in Cydia doesn't work with iPad iOS 3.2.2, iOS 4.x and iOS 5.x. However there are beta versions that do work, but aren't on Cydia because they are still in beta stages. This tutorial will show you step-by-step how to install MobileTerminal on iPad (tutorial for iPhone is here). If you have old version of MobileTerminal installed - uninstall it in Cydia (Search - MobileTerminal - Remove).
First of all you need to jailbreak your iPad. After you successfully jailbreaked iPad:
- Run Cydia by tapping on Cydia icon
- The Cydia will start:
iPhone Dev-Team Updates RedSn0w With Limera1n
The iPhone Dev-Team recently has released a new version of RedSn0w for Mac and Windows. RedSn0w uses the Limera1n exploit to support more devices and adds the ability to restore custom firmware ipsws. The crew promises that now RedSn0w will work with the iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, iPad, iPod 2G, 3G, and 4G (Not iPod 2G-MC yet).

VLC May Disappear from the App Store
VLC is a popular media player for Mac, Windows and Linux that was ported for the iPad in September and landed on the iPhone few days ago. But now there is a chance it may disappear from the App Store. According to one of the primary VLC developers Remi Denis-Courmont, Videolan (the VLC's owner) has sent a notification of copyright infringement to Apple concerning the iOS's version of the VLS that is being distributed in the App Store.

This week Microsoft had held its Professional Developers Conference where the company revealed its new focusing on HTML5 and slowed down its strategy for Siverlight. The core reason for that is Apple's iOS.

Walt Mossberg has reviewed new MacBook Airs
Famous technology journalist Walt Mossberg published another review where he analyzes new MacBook Air notebooks and describes them as "gorgeous, very thin and light, but very sturdy aluminum computers".
After using notebooks for some time he made a conclusion that the 11.6-inch system is very iPad-like, the battery life of the devices is "strong" and the systems wake up from sleep every time almost instantly. Though such machines won't fit as primary computers, especially for power users, they should fit fine for light-duty users. Walt revealed that even the $999 model can run 7-8 programs at the same time, even if there are iTunes, Safari Web browser with couple of dozens of apps opened and Microsoft Office among them.
Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac has been released
This Tuesday Microsoft released Office 2011 for Mac, which has a bunch of new features and Microsoft Outlook with totally redesigned interface.
General manager of the MS Office for Mac team Eric Wilfrid explained that many Mac users still want to use Microsoft office, though Microsoft and Apple are serious competitors in this field.

Apple made a deal with Unisys to increase its sales on governmental market
New Bloomberg report reveals that Apple has made a contract with Unisys Corp to help it sell its products to enterprise and government clients, so now Unisys also provides "maintenance and other services to companies and government agencies that purchase Apple devices."
The history of Unisys is similar to the IBM's one. Nowadays it is a provider of IT-services for huge corporations, airports, the FAA, TSA, IRS, though 30 years ago it was a mainframe hardware vendor.

Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Will Have Some of the iOS features
As it was announced by Steve Jobs on the "Back to Mac"event, the next version of Mac OS X is dubbed as "Lion" and will come next summer, bringing some of iOS features to the platfrorm. According to Apple, Lion is being developed with taking into account the innovations that iPad brought with its software:
"Lion brings many of the best ideas from iPad back to the Mac, plus some fresh new ones like Mission Control that Mac users will really like. Lion has a ton of new features, and we hope the few we had time to preview today will give users a good idea of where we are headed."

Hi, everybody. As most of you know, I don’t usually participate in Apple earnings calls, since you’re all in such capable hands with Peter and Tim. But I just couldn’t help dropping by for our first 20-billion-dollar quarter. I’d like to chat about a few things, and then stay for the rest of the Q&A, if that’s all right.
First, let me discuss iPhone. We sold 14.1 million iPhones in the quarter, which represents a 91 percent unit growth over the year-ago quarter, and was well ahead of IDC’s latest published estimate of 64 percent growth for the global smartphone market in the September quarter. And it handily beats RIM’s 12.1 million BlackBerrys sold, in their most recent quarter ending in August.
Jailbreak utility Greenpois0n released for Mac OS
Greenpois0n for Windows and Linux was released a few days ago. Today Chronic Dev Team created a Mac OS version.
Greenpois0n does jailbreak of firmware iOS 4.1 on the following devices:
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 3G S
- iPod touch 4G
- iPod touch 3G
- iPad (iOS 3.2.2)
Greenpois0n uses that same exploit as limera1n.

New version of Skype coming to Mac
Earlier this week new version of Skype 5.0 with Facebook integration was unveiled for Windows. But the official Skype for Mac blog claims that the next version of Skype for Mac with group video calling is "coming soon" too. The blog don’t mention Facebook integration, but it notes that the next version of Skype for Mac will be totally overhauled, have new appearance and functionality.
