Release of Microsoft Office app is expected to be in early 2013



Microsoft Office application for iPhone and iPad, expected to start setting on the iOS App Store in early 2013. It offers free preview of documents, but there is subscription for Office required to edit documents. On Wednesday, The Verge revealed details of the software. The "Office Mobile" application will be free distributed, but it requires Microsoft Office account. The Office Mobile application will include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. With an annual subscription to the Office, the user will be able to edit documents. Office Mobile is also expected on the Google Android platform, although the application will appear on Apple's iOS first.

Phil Schiller Confirmed iPad Mini Carries Stereo Speakers

It seems that iPad mini launch this Friday will mark the first time an iOS device includes stereo speakers. It appears that Apple’s transition to the new Lightning connector has left sufficient space for one more speaker on the bottom edge of the tablet, though the company decided not to include additional speaker to the iPad 4. Until now iPad models only included a single speaker grille.

Foxconn Has Begun Production Of iPad Mini In Brazil

According to Japanese blog Macotakara, Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn has begun to assembly forthcoming "iPad mini" at its Brazil-based facilities. The report said:

“According to my source, iPad mini was started production in Brazilian factory. I don't have information if it has been produced in Chinese factory, yet”.

Phil Schiller: Scratching Of iPhone 5 Is Normal As With Any Aluminum Product

According the report from 9to5Mac, one of its readers emailed Apple’s chief of marketing Phil Schiller, regarding scratching of the new iPhone. Scratches on the iPhone’s body are most visible on the black models because they reveal the silver color of the aluminum underneath the anodized slate color. Schiller said that scratching is “normal” when the device is in use.

Bruce Willis Considering Filing a Suit Against Apple

According to a report from The Daily Mail, actor Bruce Willis is considering bringing a lawsuit against Apple to deal with the issue of transferability of music purchases made on iTunes Stores. The report said that the actor wants his daughters to inherit his music on iTunes after his death, but transfer of ownership is prohibited by Apple’s terms. The Daily Mail said:

Another Apple 1 Computer Will Be Put Up For Auction in October

In June BBC reported that one of a few still functioning Apple 1 computers was sold at auction for about $375,000. The report also noted that only around 50 Apple’s are still in existence.

Today The Daily Mail reported that another Apple 1 computer will be auctioned off in October, and given that it is non-functional the device has been estimated to be sold for about $125,000. The report said:

OS X Mountain Lion may be degrading battery life

Ars Technica carried out a number of tests showing that Apple's new operating system OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion is draining batteries significantly faster than the previous OS X Lion. The test unit lost some 38 percent of runtime after having installed Mountain Lion. The test was conducted a number of times, each using the same applications under what was described as a "daily workload." Being used actively were Safari, Chrome, Twitter, iChat, TextEdit, Photoshop, Mail and Outlook.

New documents revealed during the legal battle between Apple and Samsung by Samsung Chief Strategy Officer Justin Denison show that the South Korean electronics giant had a "crisis of design" when the first iPhone launched in 2007. An internal memo telling about a "crisis of design" between the company's products was intended to put Samsung in a positive light became fodder for Apple counsel William Lee and "opened the door" to Apple's questioning.
