The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office published three patent applications filled by Apple and confirming that the company continues to research technologies that would contribute to improved accuracy of the autocorrect feature on the iPhone.
Application No. 12/976834, titled "Combining timing and geometry information for typing correction," describes a process for using keystroke geometry and timing to better detect a user's intended input. Any typed string could be analyzed for use in either autocorrection or autocompletion.
Earlier this month at Worldwide Developers Conference, Scott Forstall, Apple’s Vice President of iOS, unveiled a new “Passbook” app that allows users to track different types of stubs, including movie tickets, coupons, loyalty cards and boarding passes.
Passbook app is included in the iOS 6 beta currently available to developers, but it is missing virtual passes to put inside. Currently it is just a sitting page without functionality. Apple has begun putting up banners for iOS 6 at Moscone West, where WWDC 2012 will take place next week. It looks like the next version of Apple mobile operating system is not rumors any more - it's a fact.
iOS 6 is expected to bring improvements to some stock applications. Apple is believed to be dropping Google Maps and replacing it with its own in house solution.
