New Vulnerability Affects Third-Party Mac Apps





As noted by a bunch of reliable news websites, a wide number of third-party Mac apps are vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks. The vulnerability in Sparkle, an open source framework, which is used by many developers to make the update process easier, can let hackers execute malicious JavaScript code when the infected app or apps perform checks for updates. According to security researchers, uTorrent and a ‘huge’ number of other applications that are available outside the App Store are prone to the aforementioned vulnerability.

Apple Releases OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 Beta 3 to Developers



Aside from making iOS 9.3 Beta 3 available for developers, Apple has also seeded the third pre-release OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 version. The first OS X 10.11.4 beta was released on January 11th, so the developers have been testing the operating system for nearly a month now. Apple Admits Third-Party Repairs Can Brick iPhone 6 Units



Earlier this year, iPhone 6 users have begun complaining about a rather strange problem. Apple Employees in Cork, Ireland Evacuated because of Bomb Threat



According to the latest reports shared by local news websites, more than 4,000 Apple employees working at company’s facilities in Cork, Ireland have been evacuated earlier today following a bomb threat. Fortunately, the police hasn’t found anything dangerous, so after waiting for approximately 2 hours outside the facilities in Lavitts Quay, Hollyhill and Model Farm Road, the employees have successfully got back to work.

Google Can Remotely Obtain Access to 74.1% of Android Devices



According to the latest document shared by New York lawyers, Apple’s iOS is much more secure than Google’s Android. In particular, they have found out that Google can remotely bypass the passcode, reset it and obtain access to the data stored on the device running Android 4.4 or earlier on demand of law enforcement agency. Currently, 74.1% of all devices are running an older Android version. Google Will No Longer Support Chrome on OS X Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion and Windows XP, Vista

Apple Files Patent Describing ‘Panic Mode’ on iPhone



The United States Patent and Trademark Office has recently published a rather interesting patent application filed by Apple. The document describes a technology that allows to activate a special ‘panic mode’ on the iPhone with the help of special fingerprint. This special mode will allow to protect user’s data in case a robber forces the owner to unlock his phone, moreover, it will let the so-called ’emergency response providers’ take photos of the robber, determine the location of the handset and perform a number of other actions, for example, contacting police or letting a family member know about the situation.

iOS 9 Adoption Rate Reaches 66% - App Store Data



Apple has just revealed the numbers that deal with iOS 9 adoption rate. According to the data based on the App Store usage, iOS 9 is now installed on 66% of active devices that access the App Store on a regular basis. In case you don’t know, two weeks ago, the adoption rate was equal to 61%. The reason for the 5% gain in just two weeks is most likely connected with the release of iOS 9.1, which contained a number of stability, security and performance improvements, bug fixes and new emojis.

Apple Removes More Than 250 Apps From App Store Because of Malicious Ad SDK



Apple has recently removed more than 250 iOS applications from the App Store. The reason for such a radical step is a third-party advertising SDK called Youmi, which is prohibited by the App Store guidelines. When used in iOS applications, it allows to collect sensitive information, for example, Apple ID email addresses and device serial numbers and in such a way to violate user privacy. The issue has been discovered by a research firm called SourceDNA and immediately reported to Apple. The company has also provided Apple with a full list of apps using malicious ad SDK.
