Live Video from September 2015 Media Event (starts at 10AM PT)





Apple will broadcast live video from todays' media event. You can watch it here.

The event starts in about 3 hours from now at 10:00am PDT.

The event which promises to unveil two new iPhones, new iPads, Apple TV, iOS 9, and much more.

Requirements: Live streaming uses Apple’s HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology. HLS requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with Safari on iOS 7.0 or later, a Mac with Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later, or a PC with Microsoft Edge on Windows 10. Streaming via Apple TV requires a second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 6.2 or later.

Several weeks after the release of Windows 10, Apple has updated Boot Camp with the support of this operating system. Although the updated Boot Camp 6 is not yet available for public, several MacRumors readers have noticed that the update can be downloaded from Windows partitions in Boot Camp.

Global iPhone Market Share Continues to Grow - Strategy Analytics



According to the latest report from Strategy Analytics, the market share of Apple’s iPhone grew from 8.2% in the second quarter of 2014 to 10.9% in the second quarter of this year. The analysts claim that over the last few months, the guys from Cupertino have sold 47.5 million iPhone units. Last year, the number of iPhone units sold to customers worldwide was equal to 35.2 million. As you see, the difference is sales and market share is easily noticeable.

Apple Remains Top U.S. Smartphone Manufacturer



According to the latest data shared by a research firm called comScore, Apple remains the top smartphone manufacturer in the United States of America. Apple’s market share is currently equal to 43.5%. Samsung is ranked second with the market share of 28.7% and LG is the third with 8.2%.

Leaked Images Show Unreleased Microsoft Moonraker Smartwatch



Several interesting images have recently appeared on the Internet. These images show us the cancelled smartwatch developed by Nokia last year. This wearable device could have become a potential Apple Watch rival, however, after Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia, the development of the smartwatch was stopped. The smartwatch codenamed Moonraker was introduced at Mobile World Congress in 2014.

According to the latest rumors shared by insiders, Microsoft is currently planning to acquire BlackBerry. There are several reason for such a decisive step, namely, Microsoft’s desire to compete with Apple on the smartphone market on equal terms and the substantial amount of important patents owned by the Canadian company. However, it should be noted that Microsoft is definitely not the only industry giant interested in BlackBerry. Such firms as Huawei, Lenovo and Xiaomi are said to be considering the idea of purchasing the aforementioned smartphone manufacturer as well.

Apple's Cash Reserves Beat Those of Most U.S. Industries Combined



According to the information found in Moody's Investors Service study, which was published on Thursday, Apple remains the top cash holder in the United States of America with about $178 billion in cash reserves. Its closest competitors from the technology sector, Microsoft and Google, have noticeably weaker reserves of $90.2 billion and  $64.4 billion in cash respectively. Another interesting fact is that the sum of money Apple has in its reserve is greater that the sum of money most of the U.S. industries have combined. That’s what I call a successful tech company.

Apple Became Top U.S. Smartphone Manufacturer in February



According to the latest report from comScore, back in February, Apple became the top smartphone manufacturer. In the United States, its OEM market share equalled to nearly 42%.

Here are some fact and figures. Among the 186.3 million smartphone owners in the USA, 41.7% were iPhone users. The second place in terms of market share was occupied by Samsung with 28.6%, the third - by LG with 8.3%, the fourth - by Motorola with 5.1% and the fifth - by HTC with 3.8%.

Chinese Firm Compares Apple to Nazis to Promote Its Own Smartphone



Creating anti-Apple ads has for a long time been the priority of Samsung and Microsoft. However, what this companies have never done is comparing the guys from Cupertino and their iOS to Nazis and their regime.

One Chinese company called LeTV has recently released a poster showing Apple in the form of Nazis. This poster has been created as a part of the promo campaign for the company’s upcoming Android device. The offensive image, which has been first spotted on Weibo, is available below, take a look.

Cortana to Debut on iOS and Android Devices Later This Year?



According to the latest report from Reuters, Apple’s rival, Microsoft, is currently planning to make the updated version of its personal assistant called Cortana available not only on Windows Phone platform, but also on iOS and Android. Unlike the Siri and Google Now, the virtual assistant developed by the guys from Redmond won’t just respond to user’s requests. It will reportedly predict the help user may need.

Apple Makes Browser Version of iWork Available for All Users for Free



Apple has recently made the browser version of its office suite called iWork available for all users. What this means is that now even those people who don’t have an Apple device can use Pages, Numbers, and Keynote directly in the browser for free. All they need to do is to create an Apple ID account and log in to iCloud.com. After that, they will get 1GB of cloud storage and the ability to create and edit different types of documents from any browser. If you for some reason can’t use Google’s online office tools or the web-version of Microsoft’s office suite, you should definitely try Apple’s iWork for iCloud.

Microsoft Announces New Version of Its Operating System - Windows 10

Apple Became Second Most Popular Camera Brand on Flickr in 2014



Flickr, one of the most popular photo sharing websites, has recently released a report on the most popular camera brands of the last year. According to this report, the most popular brands of 2014 included Canon with 13.4% of photos taken by cameras of this manufacturer, Apple with 9.6%, Nikon with 9.3%, Samsung with 5.6% and Sony with 4.2%. Rockstar Consortium Sells 4.000 Patents to RPX Corp



The Rockstar Consortium, which includes such tech giants as Apple, Microsoft, BlackBerry, Ericsson and Sony, has recently sold its portfolio of smartphone-related patents to a firm from San Francisco called RPX Corp. This may mean that the end of the patent war between the guys from Cupertino and their rivals is near. As noted in the latest press release published by RPX Corp, the company plans to licence the aforementioned patents to Google, Cisco Systems and a number of other high-profile vendors.
