According to France-based Hardmac, Apple is preparing a remote testing tool for iOS devices that will be used by its service personnel. It will remotely check a device and send the obtained data, relatively anonymously, over the Internet. Apple technicians have already used a similar tool, but, according to Hardmac, this one works remotely. Actually, it will operate entirely online.

Third-party Dolphin Browser app has become very popular among Android users and has been downloaded nearly 9 million times. As TechCrunch reports, Sequoia Capital invested over $10 million in this app, and some part of that sum will likely be directed to developing iOS version of the browser, which has just appeared in the App Store.

The iOS version has most of the features that made this app so popular among users of Android devices. They are convenient sidebar for quick access to bookmarks, built-in translations, customizable gestures, tabbed browsing, speed dial and more. It should be noted that Dolphin is based on Apple’s WebKit, as well as other third-party browser available on the App Store, default Safari app, and majority of browsers for smartphones.

This browser has some main competitors like Opera and several smaller competitors like SkyFire that are steadily gaining popularity among iOS users.

Android users will find out that add-ons are absent from the version for iOS devices, as iPhone’s technical limitation doesn’t allow using native application add-ons. These add-ons are mainly used to change the look and feel of the browser. However, according to TechCrunch, development of JavaScript-based add-ons for iPhone may be underway.

The latest developer version of Google’s browser Chrome includes several new improvements. Now the software supports Apple’s multitouch gesturing in OS X Lion. This improvement allow you to flick your finger right or left with Magic Mouse or (two fingers with Trackpad) to go back or forth in your history. However, such gestures as double-tap or pinch can’t be used to smoothly zoom in and out, like in Safari on Lion. With another enhancement you can be assured that accidental hitting of the Command + Q combination will not quit Chrome since to quit the browser you need to hold down the combination for a brief time.

The Smart Sign is the iPad in front of each Apple product. It explains and provides specifications for the product. Customers are not able to actually use this iPad for anything but the Smart Sign application However with the right top-secret gesture anything is possible. Yesterday paid Content reported that the New York Post website is no longer available to iPad users. Instead of showing its content NYpost.com loads a landing page that directs prospective iPad readers to the App Store for downloading the publication's app.

Earlier the site was only advertising and promoting the app and users were able to continue surfing it without installing any apps. Now it shows next message:

"Thanks for coming. NYPost.com editorial content is now only accessible on the iPad through the New York Post App".

The video covers Messages with the iMessage service, Notification Center, new Music application, updated Safari, tweaked Mail, Twitter integration, updated Calendar, Settings, Reminders, the new keyboard, and more. Apple yesterday, at WWDC, announced iOS 5 for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. The new major changes include a completely revamped notifications system, over-the-air software updates and activation for new devices, and iTunes library syncing over Wi-Fi.

• The new Notification Center will aggregate all notifications that will appear at the top of the screen and will be less obtrusive overall.
• iOS 5 will be "PC free" , so a new device and iOS updates can be activated over the air.
• Tunes library can be also synchronized wirelessly via Wi-Fi.
• AirPlay Mirroring will also be possible to wirelessly mirror an iPad's display to a television connected to an AppleTV.
• Twitter will be integrated into iOS and Contacts can be updated automatically.

Yesterday we reported that Apple had released the Security Update for Snow Leopard users to automatically find and remove the known variants of the Mac Defender malware. Apple enables OS X to update malware definitions daily to make sure that new versions of Mac Defender and other malware software will be discovered and removed. But despite all Apple’s efforts, there was found a new variant of Mac Defender that manages to circumvent Apple’s new security update and work exactly like Mac Defender.
