Microsoft Releases Two New Siri vs. Cortana Ads [Video]





Microsoft has recently released two new ads mocking Apple's virtual assistant called Siri. The first is called Lost and describes the ability of Microsoft's virtual assistant to warn users about coming late to important meetings, parties etc. using recent traffic data. The second commercial is called Remind Me and it tells us about Cortana's ability to remind users about the people-related tasks. For example, when the user is talking with somebody on a phone, Cortana can remind to congratulate with this person with birthday (if this person is actually celebrating his or her birthday on that day).

Apple Spends $200 on iPhone 6 and $216 on iPhone 6 Plus Production & Assembly



According to the results of the teardown analysis performed by IHS, Apple spends only about $200 to $247 on components and the assembly of one iPhone 6 unit and $216 to $263 to produce one iPhone 6 Plus unit. This number doesn’t include costs on development of the products, advertising etc. Nevertheless, the difference between the net cost of the gadgets and their retail price is huge. In case you don’t know, the 4.7-inch handset is sold for $649 to $849 and the 5.5-inch smartphone - for $749 to $949.

iOS 8 Adoption Rate Reaches 46% Week After Release



It has been nearly a week since Apple released its iOS 8 to users worldwide. Six days after the release, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system is installed on 46% of all the iOS devices connected to the App Store. Well, at least this is what the guys from Cupertino say.

Apple Releases New 'Huge' and 'Cameras' iPhone Ads



The guys from Cupertino today released two new iPhone ads called "Huge" and "Cameras". As you may guess from the names of the commercials, they focus on the larger size of Apple's newly-released iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as well as on the cameras of the devices. The ads feature Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake and are available below, so you may take a look.

The first commercial is called "Huge" and shows us Fallon and Timberlake talking about the size of the smartphones and their functionality.

Apple Announces Record-Breaking First Weekend iPhone Sales



Apple on Monday announced that the sales of its 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus in the opening weekend topped ten million units. That is a new record for the guys from Cupertino. Apple managed to break the last year’s record of nine million iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c units sold during the first three days. What an impressive result!

A8 Processor Inside of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Is Manufactured by TSMC



Long before the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus release, a rumor appeared on the Internet that suggested that these devices will be equipped by a processor manufactured by a firm called Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). Several days after the official release of Apple’s 4.7-inch iPhone 6, iFixit experts have performed its teardown, which revealed that the handset is indeed equipped with the next-generation 64-bit A8 processor and M8 motion coprocessor, 1334x750 pixels display with pixel density of 326ppi, 8-megapixel rear and 1.2-megapixel front camera, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 as well as with NFC and LTE chips.

Fixit team has recently performed a scrupulous teardown of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus. Two-Factor Authentication Is Now Available on iCloud.com

NFC Chip Found in iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Will Work Only With Apple Pay?



Although both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus can boast of the NFC chip, it appears that the guys from Cupertino plan to use it only for making their payments service Apple Pay workable. Other possible ways of utilising the Near Field Communication technology won't be supported, which means that the developers won't get access to the iPhone's NFC antenna and won't be able to create third-party apps based on the advanced communication technology. The information was shared by Apple's spokeswoman, so I guess we can believe it.
