Apple's next iPad 3 (iPad HD) will be available on March 16th
9to5mac reported that they have received information from Apple Store source (who has been reliable in the past) that preparations are being made for a big Apple Store event which will culminate on Friday, March 16th. This points to an iPad 3 (or maybe we should say iPad HD) launch on Friday March 16, just nine days after tomorrow's announcement.

Citing inside information from a developer who has previously provided "reliable information" on upcoming Apple products, CNET claims that this time Apple would step away from its usual numerical naming and give the third-generation iPad the moniker 'iPad HD' to highlight the most prominent and talked-about feature of the upcoming tablet: a high resolution "Retina Display" that has reportedly been pictured and even put under the lens of a microscope in hopes of confirming a higher pixel count than existing iPad models.
VentureBeat also report that Apple will depart from the traditional scheme of naming and use the "HD" title as a proof that the tablet will not ship with a new A6 processor but will instead be equipped with a modified A5 chip.
Apple Is Working On New Enhanced Smart Cover For iPad 3 And Glass-Backed iPhone 5

iLounge , citing "repeatedly reliable source" , that Apple is working on a new Smart Cover-like case for iPad 3. While the Smart Cover is said to still work with the upcoming iPad, the company is reportedly working on a new iPad 3 case with a front panel similar to Smart Cover and a rear shell ensuring the protection for the entire device.
iPad 3 prices will remain the same
There were rumors that iPad 3 will cost $70-80 more than iPad 2. Now we have different rumors - 9to5Mac has heard from a reliable source that Apple will keep iPad 3 pricing the same as previous iPads:
We've gotten word that iPad pricing is going to be the same across the board as the current iPad 2 models which should be no big surprise given Apple's history – they rarely raise prices. Even better, some countries with currencies doing better than the US dollar should expect to see marginal drops in prices.
That means that iPad 3 will probably start at $499 for 16G WiFi model. This is not official numbers, but good rumors anyway.

Apple may be planning to name its next generation tablet the 'iPad HD'. This is indeed a good name for an iPad that will have retina display with 2048 x 1536 resolution .
Moreover Gizmodo has received part listings from Griffin and Belkin that refer to the new device as the 'iPad HD'.
New iPad 3 Front Glass Photos Show Black and White Options, Home Button
Last week Chinese microblogging site Sina Weibo published photos of what was claimed to be the front glass and digitizer assembly for the iPad 3. These parts are almost similar to the iPad 2 ones. But there are some minor differences in the ribbon cable that is attached to the component.
Repair Labs has now obtained these parts in both black and white. What might mean that Apple will indeed offer at least some models of the iPad 3 in both colors.

DigiTimes that Apple is going to release a new 8 GB iPad 2 alongside the iPad 3 next week, presumably seeking to cut costs to make the model as affordable as possible while differentiating the model from the iPad 3. Apple used similar strategy for the last generations of iPhones, where it has discontinues 16 GB and 32 GB iPhones being updated and introduced an 8 GB iPhone as a low-end option for users.
Apple Issues Invitations for iPad 3 Media Event on March 7
On Tuesday Apple sent out official invitations for the iPad 3 media event which indeed will be held next Wednesday, March 7, in San Francisco. In fact, the invitation itself could even be a picture of the new iPad display. The image does show a very crisp iPad screen that could be a higher resolution than the current iPad 2.
The March 7 event will be held at 10 a.m. Pacific, 1 p.m. Eastern at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Calif., the same place the last two iPad unveilings have been held. The invitation features a finger pushing down on an iOS calendar icon with March 7 as the date.
"We have something you really have to see. And touch," the invitation reads.

Apple is working two chips - enhanced A5 chip (A5X) and completely new A6
Apple is working on both an enhanced A5 (A5X) chip and a new A6 chip, according to 9to5Mac.
The site noticed that the original iPad's A4 chip was called S5L8930X, the iPad 2's A5 chip was called the S5L8940X, and the recently leaked A5X chip was labeled as S5L8945X. Going from the A4 to the A5 chip saw a jump of 10 in the labeling but going from the A5 to the A5X only had a jump of 5. Thus, the site surmised that the A6 should consequently be called the S5L8950X.
Now evidence of an S5L8950X (A6) chip has been found in the iOS 5.1 beta:
Apple rumored to be secretly shipping 'iPad 3' as Best Buy cuts iPad 2 by $50
Meijer, a regional big-box retailer in the U.S., slashed the price of the 16GB iPad 2 with Wi-Fi by $70, and Best Buy has begun offering $50 off every iPad 2 model. These facts could, however, suggest that Foxconn is already preparing to ship the device's third-generation successor to Apple in the United States.
The alleged secret shipments from Foxconn were revealed in a shipping manifest from Apple.pro revealed this weekend, which shows a series of shipments scheduled to begin delivery in the U.S. no later than March 9. The mystery orders arriving from Chengdu, China, are said to be under high security. A source from Foxconn's Chengdu plant reportedly indicated that the shipment is for "Apple's latest products."
Qualcomm Announced Its Fifth-Generation Gobi Chip
Today chip maker Qualcomm its new chip, a fifth iteration of its Gobi platform. It includes a comprehensive support for TD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, LTE on TDD and FDD networks and has GPS capabilities. The part appears nearly identical to that of the iPad 2, with the major distinguishing feature being a relatively long ribbon cable extending up the side of the display as opposed to a shorter cable with a sideways orientation seen in the iPad 2. Other features of the iPad 3 display include the same round home button seen in all iOS devices so far and a hole in the top bezel to accommodate both the front-facing camera and the ambient light sensor.
