Apple Releases New Music-Themed iPad Air Ad [Video]





The guys from Cupertino have recently released a new music-themed iPad ad devoted to the 57th annual Grammy Awards. The short commercial is entitled "Change" and it shows us three creative personalities using Apple’s tablets for their work. These personalities are Gaslamp Killer, a producer from Los Angeles, DJ Riton from England and Swedish singer Elliphant. Samsung to Become Apple A9 Chip Supplier, Not TSMC



According to the latest rumor published by Re/code reporters, Samsung will become Apple’s sole chip supplier. Looks like the guys from Cupertino have finally made up their mind. The decision to choose the Korean manufacturer, not Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), is cased by the fact that Samsung uses a more advanced manufacturing technology and can produce more chips at a given time.

iOS 8 Adoption Rate Reaches 72% - Apple



According to the latest figures published on Apple's App Store support page for developers, iOS 8 adoption rate has reached 72% over the last few months. The number of iPhones, iPads and compatible iPods with iOS 8 on board has grown 3% since January, 20th. The reasons for such growth are the public release of iOS 8.1.3 and strong demand for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.

Apple Releases Fifth iOS 8.2 Beta to Developers for Testing



Apple on Monday seeded the fifth beta of iOS 8.2 to developers for testing. The release took place about three weeks after the release of the fourth beta and nearly three months after the release of the very first testing version of iOS 8.2. This beta also includes WatchKit SDK, which allows to create apps and notifications for the long-anticipated Apple Watch and Xcode 6.2 beta 5.

Apple Remains Top Tablet Vendor, Samsung Stands in Second Place



Although Apple’s tablet sales become weaker and weaker with every new quarter, the company currently remains top tablet vendor in the world. According to the latest figures from a research firm called IDC, in the last quarter of 2014, Apple sold 21.4 million iPads and got the market share of 28.1%. Closest rivals are traditionally Samsung and Lenovo with 11.0 and 3.7 million devices sold over the last three months and market shares of 14.5% and 4.8% respectively.

Apple Asks Selected Developers to Finish Apple Watch Apps By Mid-February

Samsung Profits Continue to Fall Steadily



While Apple’s profits continue to grow, its main market rival keeps losing its share, customers and money. According to the most recent earnings report published by Samsung earlier this week, the company saw a 36% decrease in profits in Q4 of 2014 in comparison with the year-ago result. Moreover, Samsung’s mobile division saw even greater decline - 64%. The net profit in the latest quarter accounted for 5.29 trillion won (about $4.84 billion).

Apple Releases iTunes 12.1 Featuring New Widget for Notification Center



Several days after the release of OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 and iOS 8.1.3 to users worldwide, the guys from Cupertino updated iTunes. iTunes 12.1 can boast of minor stability and performance improvements as well as one easily noticeable feature. This feature is a new iTunes widget for Notification Center. The problem is that if you use iTunes on PC or Mac with OS X version lower that Yosemite, you won’t be able to launch and utilize this widget.

iOS 8.1.3 Kills TaiG Jailbreak - Hackers



Just like it was expected, Apple has patched the vulnerabilities used by the latest version of the TaiG jailbreaking utility to hack iPhones, iPads and compatible iPod touch models running iOS 8 or higher. This means that if you are using a jailbroken iOS device and don’t want to lose your jailbreak, you should stay away from the recently-released iOS 8.1.3.
