New Apple TV Won't Support 4K Video - Rumors





According to the latest report from John Paczkowski, the next-generation Apple TV, which is expected to be unveiled at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference, won’t boast of the support of 4K video. As to the possible reason for Apple’s decision not to include 4K video support to the updated device, it may be connected with the lack of high-quality 4K content. Moreover, such content requires fast Internet connection to be delivered to users and currently only about 15% of customers in the USA have access to the connection fast enough to work with 4K videos.

Apple TV to Be Updated with New Processor, Siri and More This Year



According to what people familiar with the matter write, at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference scheduled for June, the guys from Cupertino plan to announce a new Apple TV set-top box. The new media device will reportedly boast of Apple’s A8 processor and a big amount of internal storage. Apart from that, the sources claim Apple will add Siri to its next-generation set-top box and create a special App Store version with applications for Apple TV. SDK for developers to create apps will become available this summer as well.

Apple Gets Patent for Eye-Tracking Technology



Earlier today, Apple was granted a patent for an eye-tracking technology, which can help users control the whole interface of a computer, laptop or smartphone. This technology will reportedly be used in the next generations of Apple's iPhones, iPads, Macs and even Apple TVs. The technology described in the document is unique as it allows users not to lose control of a cursor while working with a device. That is the key point of Apple's most recent patent.

'Lucky Bag' Promotion Takes Place in Japan, Customers Are Happy



The stores are closed, which means that one more “Lucky Bag” promotion in Japan is over. Most of the customers, who decided to risk and spend about $300 on sealed Fukubukuro packages, managed to obtain such goods as Apple TV set-top boxes, external battery packs, backpacks, iPods, Beats headphones and iTunes gift cards. Moreover, some of the Japanese shoppers were lucky enough to get Apple’s iMac, MacBook Air or iPad Air.

Apple TV Loses Ground in the USA Because of Roku and Chromecast



Apple TV set-top box has reportedly begun losing ground as its main rivals, namely, Roku and Chromecast, have become much stronger. According to what was shared by a marketing research firm Parks Associates, Roku streaming media players currently occupy the first place on the U.S. market, Google’s Chromecast sticks stand on the second one and Apple TV boxes are down one position on the third spot.

Apple releases iOS 8.1. What's new?



Just as Apple announced at its iPad & Mac event last Thursday, iOS 8.1 is now publicly available with new features including Apple Pay, iCloud Photo Library, and additional Continuity features. Apple Pay is available for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users for making payments for purchases with the new iPhone rather than a physical credit card in supported retail stores and apps; iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 users will be able to use Apple Pay within supported apps as well. In addition to iOS 8.1, Apple also released version 7.0.1 for third-generation Apple TV boxes.

How to live stream Apple’s Oct. 16 iPad/Mac event on Windows



Need to stream Apple’s live event on a Windows machine? Like last time, Apple’s iPad/Mac Oct. 16 press event won’t be streaming on Windows and this time around requires Safari on a Mac, iOS device or an Apple TV. That means that Windows users will have to figure how to get the stream going using the workaround we posted last time.

Apple TV channel for today’s iPad and iMac event live stream is now available



Apple previously announced that it would be live streaming Thursday’s iPad and Mac event, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that the company is pushing out an Apple TV channel to stream the video. It is a bit surprising, however, that the channel is already available at midnight Pacific time. It’s usually much later in the day that it appears.

Apple plans to live stream its October 16th special event, reports MacRumors:

Apple has plans to offer a live stream of its October 16 event, according to a source that spoke to MacRumors. As with its September 9 iPhone event, Apple will likely offer a stream of the event both on its website and through a dedicated channel on the Apple TV.

You can watch streaming video from WWDC special event and see all new announcements. It starts June 2nd at 10am PDT. The video will be available here.

Live streaming video requires Safari 4 or later on OS X v10.6 or later; Safari on iOS 4.2 or later. Streaming via Apple TV requires second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 5.0.2 or later.
