A bug in iOS 8 has been discovered today, which affects the Messages app users. This bug allows to crash the Messages app or the iPhone using a special chain of Arabic characters and symbols. Immediately after a user receives an iMessage or an SMS with these symbols, the iPhone reboots. If the affected user opens the Messages app after the reboot, the app crashes and continues to crash each time the person attempts to open it.
According to the latest rumors shared by insiders, Microsoft is currently planning to acquire BlackBerry. There are several reason for such a decisive step, namely, Microsoft’s desire to compete with Apple on the smartphone market on equal terms and the substantial amount of important patents owned by the Canadian company. However, it should be noted that Microsoft is definitely not the only industry giant interested in BlackBerry. Such firms as Huawei, Lenovo and Xiaomi are said to be considering the idea of purchasing the aforementioned smartphone manufacturer as well.
It is Sunday today, which means it is time for me to tell you about the most interesting posts of the past seven days. Let’s take a look at these articles right now.
According to the latest report released by usually reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the guys from Cupertino may officially announce the next-generation iPhone in August and release the device in September. This report goes in line with the rumors, which appeared earlier this week suggesting that Apple may change its usual update cycle and release the new iPhone model or models in August instead of September. It should be noted, however, that Apple has never organized any media events devoted to new product launches in August, so this may be the first time.
According to the latest report released by The Wall Street Journal, last year, Apple decided to postpone the release of the television set. As noted in the report, the guys from Cupertino planned to add a 4K display, a FaceTime camera and a bunch of other interesting features to their TV-set. They even managed to create several working prototypes. However, the company executives decided not to enter such a competitive market and cancelled the release of the new device.
It is Sunday today, that is why I’ve made up a list of the most interesting articles of the last seven days, which I want to share with you. Let’s not waste time and take a look at this list right now.
According to what IHS Technology Research Director for China Kevin King has recently shared on Weibo, Apple’s next-generation iPhone will feature a 12-megapixel camera with smaller pixels. This rumor goes in line with the most-recent report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who also stated that the guys from Cupertino may equip their new gadget with a brand new photo sensor.
According to the latest report from DigiTimes, labor shortages were the reason for the slow launch of the Apple Watch back in April. Apple’s main supplier responsible for the assembly of the wearable device, Quanta Computer, was unable to find the required number of workers during the Lunar New Year holidays and this caused supply constraints. As noted by Quanta Vice Chairman, the guys from Cupertino were even thinking about switching to other manufacturers to catch up with the demand for the gadget.
According to the latest report from people familiar with the matter, the Apple Watch can soon become a potential target for thieves. You see, there’s no such feature as Activation Lock embedded to the wearable device. In case you don’t know, this security feature makes it impossible for thieves to use the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with a new account.
The shipping times for many 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro models have recently begun slipping to 2 or 3 weeks. This indicates that the supplies of the high-end laptop continue to decline. It’s true that the guys from Cupertino may unveil a brand new 15-inch MacBook Pro model with a Broadwell processor inside at the Worldwide Developers Conference scheduled for June. However, keeping in mind that these chips are currently deeply constrained, I don’t think that the official announcement is imminent.
As you probably know, Apple's iPhone 6 is currently one of the thinnest smartphones on market. It features a sleek design and a display with incredibly thin bezels. The next-generation iPhone, which is expected to be released in the second half of this year is expected to become even thinner.
Keeping this in mind, SET Solution has recently created a new concept of the device called the iPhone Air. This model can boast of the 4-inch screen, the thickness of only 4.3mm, the height of 122.7mm and the width of 56.9mm. Moreover, it features a Full HD display and the usual Home button with Touch ID sensor. As you may see below, the latest video from the researchers is based on Apple's iPad Air commercial.
As you probably know, the Apple Watch uses a display manufactured by LG Display. According to the latest report from a research firm DisplaySearch, the orders for the display for Apple’s long-anticipated wearable device allowed LG Display to earn $186 in the first quarter of 2015. This sum makes about 90% of the overall smartwatch display market worth. If you are interested in more facts and numbers, LG Display accounted for 66.8% of the total component shipments with 8 million units shipped in the first months of this year.
As you probably know, there are three versions of the long-awaited Apple’s wearable device, namely, the Apple Watch, the Apple Watch Sport and the Apple Watch Edition. These smartwatches are made of aluminum, stainless steel and 18-karat gold. The prices start from $350 for the entry-level aluminum model and end with incredible $15.000 for the high-end gold version of the gadget.
Not surprisingly, only several people have been spotted wearing the most expensive gold model of the Apple Watch. Kanye West is one of those people. The reporters saw him wearing the gold Edition with a gold Link Bracelet during the Chicago Bulls vs. Cleveland Cavaliers game. It is rather strange as many of the initial customers haven’t yet received their orders.
It is Sunday today, which means it is high time I told you about the most interesting posts of the past several days. Let’s not waste time and take a look at them right now.
According to the latest report from reliable sources, the remote control for the next-generation Apple TV, which is expected to be unveilled in June at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference, will feature two physical buttons, possibly Play/Pause and Mute, and a touchpad instead of the ring-shaped button for navigation. The remote will become a bit thicker, insiders believe. It should be noted, however, that the aforementioned report is based purely on the rumours and experts’ predictions, so you should take it with a few pinches of salt.
