  • you cant go back to iOS 4.x once you go to iOS 5
  • Apple will probably fix this soon.

Download links for iOS 5.0 beta 1 and iTunes 10.5 beta

iOS_5

Apple recently released iOS 5 beta and iTunes 10.5 beta. It is available only for Apple registered developers. But you can try it too. Remember that you do it at your own risk. Below you will find iOS 5 download links for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G, iPad 1, iPad 2, Apple TV 2G and download links to iTunes 10.5 Mac and Windows.

Keep in mind that your iDevice will need to be activated, your UUID needs to be registered in Apple. Installing iOS beta on a non-activated device will render it useless. If you need help with registering UUID - write us, we will try to help..

Remember that currently there is no jailbreak for iOS 5 released. UPDATE: If you need a jailbreak - download it here.

(!) You will probably not be able to restore back to 4.х. UPDATE: how to go back to 4.3.3.

You can download iOS 5 beta 2 here.

iCloud replaces iTunes for iOS device syncing

iTunes10

John Gruber, founder of Daring Fireball web site, claims that he heard iCloud is something more than a new music service, it’s sooner will be a full replacement for iTunes.

Don’t think of iCloud as the new MobileMe; think of iCloud as the new iTunes.

Instead of simply revamped MobileMe with a new name, new UI, new functionalities and call it iCloud, Gruber pictures a scenario where iCloud becomes the new standard to sync all kinds of media and information to an iOS device:

iTunes Reveals Potential iOS 5 Feature: “Automatic Download”

MyAppUpdates

MacRumors recently found out that iTunes is now showing a new sentence on the My App Updates page: “Or if your device has Automatic Download enabled for apps, your updates will download to your device without having to sync.” So we may suppose that iOS 5 will have a new option that will automatically grab applications updates to your iOS device. Now you have to sync or download updates yourself through the App Store application. Though, the new   “Automatic Download” function may be available not only for iOS applications. But recent updates show that Apple has already removed that message from the iTunes, killing the service completely.

iCloud Detailed: Initially Free with iTunes Purchase, $25 a Year Subscription

icloud

The Los Angeles Times reports that iCloud will be offered for free with a purchase from the iTunes Store. That means that a digital download may include free online storage or a free subscription. Though many believe that subscription won’t be free, because users will want to form their libraries as quick as possible, and may cost as little as $ 25 per year.

The LA Times says Apple initially plans to allow consumers to store their data on Apple’s servers, and would like to offer much more than music in the realm of movies, television, and other digital content through iCloud’s publishing platform. Whether that storage involves uploading your own media or having iTunes scan your library is currently unknown, but we’re hoping for the latter.

Nike+ GPS App Becomes Temporarily Free

nike-plus-summary

Five years ago, Swoosh has released its Nike+ iPod kit intended for the morning jogging fans. To celebrate the anniversary of this event, Nike offers for free its Nike+ app at the App Store, the regular price of which is $2. The app is based on the iPhone’s GPS and MotionX technologyto track your jogging route (as in some places the GPS signals are weak, the MotionX tech is intended to bridge the gaps). The same technology by the way has been used in Jawbone’s stunning new Era Bluetooth headset.

You can download it here to enjoy the app and its additional motivational features and post-run sharing options.

And hurry up, as the app will probably become paid again.
